Francis Perkins and Eleanor Roosevelt: Progressives in the New Deal

Time: TBA

The Roosevelt Administration's New Deal was a time of new ideas, fresh approaches and wide-spread-thinking-outside-the-box. Two key drivers in these efforts were Secretary of  Labor Francis Perkins (first woman to hold a presidential cabinet position) and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. This session explores the impact these women had on the New Deal and our lives today.

Discussion topics include: Who were these incredible women? How did they develop such a passion for helping others? How did their ideas help shape the New Deal?  How do we continue to benefit from their work today?

The event will be held at the Wallace Center at the FDR Library and Museum in Hyde Park, NY. Jeffrey Urbin, Director of Education for the FDR Library will present and lead a discussion. This is a free public event.
